My life is one big blond joke

I've decided that that is what I'd call my blog if I was writing it about my life.

Here's the thing. I am blond. At least my hair is.
And yes, I've been known to occasionally say something that sounds a bit like a blond joke... but the truth is, I am a very smart girl. Like genius. Seriously, it runs in my family :)

I enjoy life. I love to laugh and have fun. I was teased when I was younger, and I learned very quickly that if I laugh too, then they can't really laugh AT me... that has resulted in a life full of laughter. Genuine, honest laughter. I can honestly say I laugh at myself probably harder than anyone else. And that includes my seriously hilarious jokes. Sometimes I cannot even make it through to the punch line because I'm already laughing.

This is something I've found to be incredibly helpful and important in my photography. As I've mentioned many times before, I had the opportunity to shoot with Jasmine Star several months ago. It was incredible for me and it has CHANGED the way I shoot. I really understand what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera, and how important it is for me to make you feel comfortable. My favorite picture from that shoot is this one:
The light is beautiful and the location was fun, but I love that I am laughing. I don't remember why, but I relaxed, had fun, and was able to just be myself. That definitely showed up in the photos.

I am often asked what to wear for a shoot, or what to bring, or how to pose. But the best piece of advice I can give is relax, be yourself, and HAVE FUN. I don't think it's a natural thing for most people to be in front of the camera. Especially in situations when you're in a public place and people are watching. It is our natural reaction to feel silly and not want to do anything but smile cheesily... But the best photos come when we can relax and laugh at ourselves.

Laughter is a wonderful thing. It makes you feel good, it makes the people around you feel good... it's contagious. It produces a wonderful, natural high... as well as a wonderful, natural smile. It even helps with your abs... and you can't go wrong there!

I feel as though the only proper way to end this is with my favorite blond joke:

A blond, a brunette and a redhead were running away from the police.
They ran into a potato field and jumped into potato sacks.
The police came to the first potato sack with the brunette.
They kicked the sack and the brunette let out a loud "WOOF".
The police believed it was just a dog, so they moved onto the second potato sack.
The redhead was inside.
They kicked the potato sack and the redhead purred like a kitten.
They moved onto the third potato sack which held the blond.
They kicked the sack and the blond responded, "Potatoes, duh!"
