My other world

I've debated writing this.
I've gone back and forth.
I've listed the pros and cons.
I've juggled the "what ifs."
And I decided to post it anyway.

Because at the end of the day, I'm not just a photographer. I'm not just a girl, with a camera, who is doing something I love.

I am also a youth pastor.

Up until this point I've written mostly about my journey into this crazy world of photography. But I've found that as I've opened up about my journey, my struggles, my triumphs, and my heart... there's been something missing.
It's the other half of my heart.
My teens.

If you are my friend on facebook, if you follow me on twitter, or if you have read my formspring page, you may have seen photos and posts about teens and youth group. Here is a little of my story.

I started working with the teens at my dad's church (my dad is a pastor) at the ripe old age of 17. I was a jr. high intern, and that quickly snowballed into a life of full time ministry. Six years later, I am still here. I am still loving on that crazy group of teens. Some have graduated, new ones have come, but they have all found a place in my heart. How I got here and what I do is a whole long story for another blog post.

I noticed today that I haven't been as good at blogging every day or two. I've noticed that I will occasionally miss 2 or 3 days between blogs. I love to blog. I love to share. I love to write. I love to hear your thoughts on what I'm doing and where my business is going. But the fact is, that I adore people. I like spending time with people, investing in people, being with people. I love real life and real people. And that takes precedence over my blog.

These last few weeks have been busy and crazy as I've shot more sessions than ever before, and as I've continued to invest in my teens.

If you want to read more about my other world, the other half of my heart, check out my old blog. This is the blog I used to write about the craziness that surrounds my life in youth ministry.

So internet, today my two worlds collide.
Today, my heart is whole.
Today, my whole life is on my blog.

Love me or hate me... this is more than what I do... this is who I am.

You are sure doing great things with teenagers. Keep inspiring teens to do their best, because they can sure use some inspiration in their lives. Keep up the great work that you do!

You are such a beautiful person, both inside and out. Your heart (and talent) is what keeps us coming back to hear more!
